Paul F. Mackay Jr.

Helping Families & Builders in the Puget Sound since 1994

206-920-0399

As a John L. Scott broker, my mission is transactional excellence and client satisfaction. That means I work tirelessly to make your home buying or selling process as efficient, stress-free and lucrative for you as possible.

Meet Paul

Paul Mackay Jr. has been involved with real estate since 1985, when he purchased his first home, completing a major rehab on the house with his wife. In the early years, Paul and his wife would buy tear-down homes and rehab them to rent or sell. Then, he decided to start a family and begin his real estate career, becoming a broker with John L. Scott in 1994. Prior to real estate, he was a server at 13 Coins Restaurant for 20 years and also started Paul’s Burger Joint in Burien and Des Moines in the early 80s.

Now, Paul is based out of John L. Scott’s Renton office and works with buyers, sellers and 10 small builders around Renton. He helps clients find land opportunities, new construction, resale, condos and townhomes in areas including south Seattle, Bellevue, Normandy Park, Burien, West Hill Kent, West Hill Auburn, Kent, Renton, Newcastle, Sammamish and Issaquah.

Paul is an active broker, and his clients benefit from his daily previews of product and inventory — he’s truly an expert on local inventory. Communication is key in real estate — and Paul works with his assistant to ensure his clients’ questions and needs are taken care of. His hands-on approach and dedication to finding a win-win situation for all has resulted in many satisfied clients in his 25 years as a broker.

When Paul isn’t working, he can be found playing year-round on two competitive men’s soccer teams, or catching a Sounders or Seahawks game. He also enjoys taking his boat out in the summer to wakeboard with his son and friends. Paul and his wife have been married since 1985 and the two love to entertain, cook, dance and spend time with their family and friends.

Giving back is also important to Paul, be it through assisting brokers in the Renton office, helping clients or donating to the John L. Scott Foundation. As a John L Scott broker, Paul takes pride in not only helping families find or sell their homes but also helping the children in our community through the John L. Scott Foundation. The Foundation supports children’s healthcare, with the aim of helping ensure children receive top-notch care and are able to leave the hospital with a clean bill of health and a smile on their face.

Representation

I take pride in offering high-caliber full-service residential real estate expertise. My clients are my top priority, and I focus on delivering the best possible results for them.

Expertise

The real estate market is hyperlocal, seasonal and temperamental—in other words, it can change on a dime. Technology has made information more accessible to everyone, but it can be difficult to keep up with recent events that affect home values. The benefits of working with a licensed real estate professional go far beyond what a mobile app, online video, or website can do.

I provide my clients with information on market seasonality and information relevant to what is happening in their specific neighborhood. This customized analysis includes recent comparable sales that factor into an offer and acceptance strategy.

Negotiations

Successful negotiations help move a conversation forward and transform the process into an agreement that’s a win for all parties. Negotiation is not only a skill, but a mindset. I keep my clients’ best interests top of mind as I negotiate on their behalf.

Transactional Excellence

I am dedicated to transactional excellence for every listing and sale. What this means for you is that I have a licensed assistant that oversees every detail of the real estate transaction. The transaction is far from over once an offer has been accepted. We monitor inspections, appraisals, title, escrow and loan processes. Communication and collaboration with all the partners and parties involved with the transaction ensures a smooth and timely closing. We are committed to my clients before, during and after a sale.

Meet Talia Long

Realtor - Executive Assistant

Talia Long joined Paul Mackay with John L. Scott Renton in 2014.  She came aboard as Paul’s first licensed broker assistant to help grow and manage his Real Estate business. Talia transferred from Keller Williams Realty in Bellevue where she started as the Director of First Impressions in 2007.  In 2012, she was the Team Coordinator for Homehelper Consultants and received her real estate broker license in 2013. With over 12 years of Real Estate experience, Talia brings a high level of professionalism, knowledge, efficiency, organization, and top-notch customer service when working with clients. Her goal is to make each transaction run smoothly and successfully from the very beginning all the way through the closing process. In her spare time, Talia loves to spend time with her husband and 5 small doggies. She enjoys traveling, dancing, and being an Independent Stylist for Stella & Dot.

Renton

Renton sits on the southeast shore of Lake Washington and at the junction of three major hiways: I5, I405 and state route 167. That means we have easy access to Seattle, Bellevue, SeaTac airport, and the rest of the Puget Sound area, as well as the Lake and the Cascades including Mt Rainier. Renton was incorporated in the early 1900s, but we really grew when Boeing started building planes here during World War 2. In the decades since, many large corporations have set up homes here, including Paccar, which makes Kenworth and Peterbilt commercial vehicles. IKEA opened their first Pacific Northwest location here in the mid 90s. The downtown core has been revitalized and is now home to the Piazza. During the summer, the Piazza hosts a farmers market, but there are events here throughout the year. Renton is also home to the facility where the Seattle Seahawk train. Every summer, we have Renton River days, which was named for the Cedar river that flows right through town on its way to Lake Washington. The multiple day event features a parade, arts and crafts, food, entertainment and a kid’s zone with inflatables and other activities. Renton has homes of all styles. Luxury homes on the water or in the Highlands, condos and townhouses overlooking Lake Washington, and new homes in friendly neighborhoods. All with access to tons of hiking and biking trails, a vibrant downtown and some of the nicest people in the world. If you’d like to learn more about Renton, let us know. We’d love to show you around and help you find your perfect home.

Reviews

"Paul is absolutely the most professional, helpful and honest realtor we have ever had the pleasure of working with. My husband and I have purchased over 20 homes throughout the years and Paul is hands down the BEST!! His attention to detail and impeccable follow-through is exceptional. Paul is truly honorable and listens to exactly what you want and need in a home. I cannot recommend Paul or his assistant Talia enough. Talia also is so on top of every little detail. They go above and beyond to ensure the experience is seamless. We had zero stress and even the tiniest of details Talia and Paul handled for us. They are exceptional in every way!!! You will be thrilled if you buy or sell a home using Paul."

"We closed on our first-ever home purchase almost a year ago and the duo of Paul and Talia was instrumental in navigating a turbulent and--frankly--often ridiculous market on the Eastside. In addition to seemingly infinite patience in dealing with my "knows just enough to be dangerous" first-time  homebuyer questions, Talia did a lot of driving at a lot of very not-fun-to-drive times to facilitate viewings, even when I'm pretty sure they all knew better than we did what would match our needs and what wouldn't. All the while staying positive and professional! We ultimately ended up winning a bid on a house we loved with the 3rd place offer among something silly like 16 total, all above list. It's tempting with all the options today to opt for low-commission options, but I'm just about positive that without all the extra attention, preparation in making the offer as awesome as it could be, and most importantly in keeping the person-to-person connections going, we wouldn't have gotten our house. Or the next one, or the next one, or the next one. I have multiple coworkers who have spent, quite literally, dozens of weekends seeing places, making offers, and failing to get the place they wanted. Seeing the despair in the bags under their eyes leaves me with no doubt after our comparatively easy six-week search that you do sometimes get what you pay for, and Paul and Talia were great examples of this." -Wilson

" ...One of the top producers in John L. Scott's Renton office, Mackay knows the neighborhood and their prices, the way only an insider can." Elizabeth Rhodes, Seattle Times Staff Reporter

"..Paul realized the importance & urgency of what was needed to commensurate a sale. Paul was able to facilitate, negotiate and put together a smooth sale transaction in a very short period of time, while protecting our vested interests at all times.." Jon N. Monroe
